Overview

"Tukai! Rock 'n' Roll Street" is a light comedy youth drama produced by TBS, starring Yasuko Sawaguchi and Kumiko Goto. It depicts the story of half-sisters, a headstrong bus guide (Yasuko Sawaguchi) and a cool junior high school student (Kumiko Goto), overcoming various problems and continuing to pursue their dreams.

It was a hot topic for featuring two popular young and beautiful actresses, Yasuko Sawaguchi and Kumiko Goto. The casting method of "Mama wa Idol," which was popular the previous year by featuring Goto and Miho Nakayama, was combined with the light comedy touch of the "Street" series of "Sailor Suit Street" (1986) and "Tukai! OL Street" (1986). Thanks to this golden combination and Gokumi's beautiful girl boom, the viewership ratings were a hit drama, exceeding 20% every time.

Many of the main characters, such as Yasuko Sawaguchi, Kyuzo Nagatsuka, Kinichi Sekine, and Satomi Kobayashi, who appeared in "Tukai! OL Street," made a spin-off appearance with their character settings intact, which was a distinctive feature. Kyuzo Nagatsuka and Kinichi Sekine have appeared in all the series starting from "Sailor Suit Street." Also, Tetsuya Komuro composed the theme song for all the series, but only for this work, TM NETWORK was in charge of the theme song.

As the title of the drama suggests, "rock 'n' roll" is also set as the background of the story, and scenes of performances and singing by the cast are inserted every time. Sawaguchi, as the role, was also a fan of the singer Madonna in reality at the time.

TM NETWORK, who sang the theme music, also sang "Get Wild," the theme song for the anime "City Hunter (Part 1)" on Yomiuri TV at the same time.
