Antique French Gilded Brass Portrait Trinket Box with Hand Written Signature (A2672)

This is a wonderful gilt brass trinket box, signed France under the latch.
The portrait looks like it was handpainted, which is very hard to tell without taking it apart.
Lots of detail to the brass, with applied applications to the top.
There is a signature or possibly a note, but I did not take it apart.
It looks like a possibly signed Duchess and a D; its faint and hard to make out.
4.75" by 5" by 1.75".
There are some dark spots; the inside has some green spots, with some darkening here and there.
The brass inside on the cover looks like there are 3 marks

Really a stunning older piece.
If someone wants to take the inside circle apart, it might tell quite a story!
