Pair of Arthur Wood & Son Ltd. vases, Staffordshire, England, c. 1940–1950. A representative set of English decorative pottery from the post-war period, crafted in fine Staffordshire ironstone and marked with the full factory stamp “Arthur Wood – Fine Staffordshire Ironstone – Est. 1884 England”, together with the pattern number 3972. The decoration features hand-painted pastel peonies and magnolias, enriched with delicate gilt highlights to the rims. The richly developed natural glaze craquelure attests to the age and authenticity of the pieces. • Larger vase: height 30 cm, maximum diameter 16 cm, base 10 cm. • Smaller vase: height 16.5 cm, maximum diameter 9 cm, base 6 cm. Condition: excellent, with no cracks or losses; all signatures and decorations preserved in full. This pair exemplifies the classical design of Arthur Wood, combining functional qualities with strong decorative value, and may be regarded both as a fine collectible and a refined decorative accent! :)
