I have here for sale a book entitled Mexico of To-day by Griffin, Solomon Bulkley. Published by New York; Harper & Brothers, in 1886. It's a scarce First Edition. Illustrated with maps, including a two page color map frontispiece, and wood engravings. Solomon Bulkley Griffin (1852 - 1925) was a journalist and managing editor of "The Springfield Republican" from 1878 until 1919. He wrote his current book while traveling through Mexico, describing the scenery, the people, and the problems of society and government from the "standpoint of American citizenship." Chapters included the politics of the country, its natural resources, Mexico's art, religion and family customs, etc... Brown cloth over boards, illustrated in silver and black. 8vo, (x)267pp, 4pp adverts, 2 coloured maps, 23 illustrations, owner's name on endpaper, edges browned, front inner hinge slightly cracked, text clean and sound, brown cloth dec, corners bumped and rubbed, Good condition. 19 cm x 13 cm.
