Charming set of three Art of Chokin display plates, each approx. 4 inches (10 cm) diameter, all Made in Japan. The centres feature etched copper designs gilded with silver and 24 kt gold, a technique originally used to decorate Samurai armour. Designs included Cranes over mountains on a grey–marble border Golden Pavilion / Kinkaku-ji temple scene with floral rim Calla lilies with butterfly on a black border (front plaque reads Chokin Art 24 KT Gold) Very good vintage condition with bright gilding and no chips or cracks. Minor age-related surface marks and a little sticker residue to the reverse, as shown.
