This exquisite gold leaf brooch features lustrous faux pearls with a textured matte gold tone setting. Elegant curling leaves delicately curve around the cream colored pearls. Signed Richelieu plaquette on the back. Finished with a roll clasp. Perfect for adding a touch of elegance to any outfit. Richelieu was the trademark of Joseph H. Meyer & Bros. The company was founded in New York at the turn of the Century. The trademark was initially used in 1911. Richelieu are noted for their simulated pearl jewelry and is therefor very collectible. Richelieu jewelers carefully and masterfully made spectacular decorations of polished metal of gold tone with artificial pearls, clear crystal or colored cabochons. Based on the signature, I would estimate that these are likely for the 1960's or 1970's.
