Vintage Czech Straw Handle Porcelain Gilded Sipping Mug EPIAG Karlovy Vary Spa C

A very unique and gorgeous mug. Kala Cup is a straw handled Spa Cup designed by Stepan Kuklik for the Karlovy Vary spa in Czechoslovakia. The Cup's name comes from the Calla Flower and its design is inspired by the flowers features. the Straw emerges on the inside of the cup similar to the flower stem. The cups twirly golden design resembles the flower stem. It has lots of gold gilting. Spa cups are a type of porcelain cup with a spout that allows the drinker to drink mineral or thermal water directly from the spring. The cup became popular after 1900 because of their compact design, which made them easy to carry. Later designers created more luxurious spa cups, turning them into art objects.
