80s Levi's 501 Black Denim Chemical Wash, Made in USA, 1989

80s American-made Levi's 501 black denim chemical wash gray straight denim with back pockets.

Extremely rare black denim chemical wash 501-0661 made in the USA by Levi's.
Levi's chemical wash and black denim were not popular at the time, so they are extremely rare now.

This chemical wash has faded quite a bit, resulting in a light gray color, which I think is cool.
The factory number is factory number 532, made in September 1989.

Why 501 USA chemical wash is rare
• 505 and 550 were more common: In the 80s and 90s, chemical washes were often made on "505" and "550," which were pre-shrunk and had a relaxed silhouette. The 501, the classic, had fewer of these at the time.
2. Short manufacturing period
Chemical wash became explosively popular from the late 1980s to the early 1990s.
• Levi's US factories were almost all closed by the early 2000s, but the "USA-made 501" with "chemical wash" was only manufactured during these few years of the trend.
3. "Unpopularity" and "Disposal" at the time
This is an interesting point that makes it rare in the used clothing market, but in the 2000s and 2010s, chemical wash was treated as synonymous with "old-fashioned" and "uncool."
• Therefore, many items were discarded without being recycled or used as materials for remakes.
