The People's Bank of China issued Chinese Yuan banknotes in 12 different denominations, including this 10 Chinese Yuan banknote (Mount Everest). They are part of the Chinese Yuan withdrawn Renminbi banknotes series. The People's Bank of China started issuing these 10 Chinese Yuan banknotes in 1980. They were withdrawn from circulation in 1999.

The discontinued bill of ¥10 Shi Yuan has two people on the front side: an elder Han with moustache and young Mongolian man. The reverse side has an image of the snowy peak of Mount Everest in the Himalayas.
