Martine Franck (1938-2012) was born in Belgium, grew up in the U.S. and in England. She studied art history at the University of Madrid and at the École du Louvre in Paris. In the 1960s she began work as a photographer. She eventually published nine books and was featured in multiple shows. She preferred to photograph in 35 mm black and white film. This picture, Metro, dates to 1977. The high quality print features a cat perched on a telephone booth in the Paris Metro. It was once a page in a vintage book.
