"Changing Horses" is an aquatint engraving by Henry A. Papprill, created around 1874. It depicts a stagecoach stopping at a rural location to change horses, and is one of five original scenes from "Fores's Coaching Recollections".
The artwork is known for its detailed portrayal of the stagecoach and the bustling activity surrounding the horse change, as well as for its broader commentary on the changing social landscape of post-Civil War America.
This particular piece was framed in France and has true signs of age reflected on the framing and minor imperfections on backing. It does have a long wire hanger on back for displaying on the wall.
