This is a box made with a single piece of wood, completely hand carved and decorated with animal sand floral like details, a frog is sitting on the top lid over what seems like flowers and leaves and horses on the sides at rest. This box has very attractive colors, beautifully carved and possibly created around 1950s or 1960s by Chinese or Malayan artisans living in Indonesia, most probably in Sumatra or in Borneo. The design is very much in style of some apothecary pieces made in Imperial China around 1880s but with a rustic and naïve touch more proper to its modest origins. The mystical beauty of this wooden box with lid make it a talking piece. Lovely, elegant but naïve at once. In a good vintage condition.
