These finely crafted cone stones are hallmark artifacts of the Hopewell tradition, flourishing in the Eastern Woodlands between 200 BCE and 500 CE. Each cone was meticulously ground and polished from durable quartzite, then carried along the Hopewell exchange networks that spanned from the Great Lakes to the Gulf Coast.
Key features:
Dimensions: ~1.2″ tall, 0.5″ base diameter
Deep brown to gray patina with natural mineral inclusions
Slight concave base indentation indicating intentional carving
No modern tool marks—hand-ground finish under 10× magnification
Ideal for collectors, educators, and cultural institutions seeking authentic Woodland-period artifacts.
