1970’s Rabindra Danks pen and ink lithograph of lounging raccoon.
Part of his “Red Dot Series” (see pic of spot above raccoon’s head where the bright red dot had been, but has faded from sun)
10” x 12” hard wood frame with original backing. (Paper has ripped in places which has allowed a bit of dust behind the glass - otherwise print and mat are in excellent condition)
Pop Artist Rabindra Danks was born in Glasgow Scotland.
He had tiny galleries on Hollywood Blvd., and at Fashion Square in Torrance, CA, in the 1970's, and sold everything from signed, framed lithographs to note cards to mass-produced, unsigned prints. Most had an animal theme, and were primarily line art using multiple, thin, black lines to create textures. He used the name "Rabindra" from his attraction to the Hindu culture. The red dot represented a Hindu good luck symbol, and was sometimes the only color on the drawing.
