Elegant Purple Cushion Cut 15.80 Zircon

This bargain of a beautiful zircon is all due to poor lapidary skills. The facets are uneven, the transition from the sides to the face of the stone is all botched; including a small chip being present. Better to try and salvage to stone for jewelry instead of crushing it for industrial use. Stone is about 95% eye clean, and 90% Loupe clean; and a gorgeous purple hue. Stone is birefringent, and most likely clarity enhanced with heat. Stone origin is Cambodia.

Original Price listed for the stone is the lowest calculated price at $50/carat. Top tier Zircons are close to $200/carat.

Why So Cheap?

Will this gemstone end up in the Crown Jewels? No. Would they be used in products from Van Cleef and Arpel, Cartier, or Tiffany? Also probably no.

These are “B” rated gemstones; meaning they are the real thing, but not up to the standards for top tier jewelry. They’re great for collecting, making your own jewelry, or even as an investment.
