**Marie Claire History**
* 1937: Founded by Jean Prouvost. Published every Wednesday. French readers flocked to newsstands across the country to buy this weekly magazine.
* 1942: Due to the German invasion, the French government suspended the publication of most magazines, including Marie Claire.
* 1954: Re-launched as a monthly magazine.
* 1976: Jean Prouvost retired. His daughter, Evelyn, became the publisher and the magazine was acquired by the L'Oréal Group.
**Japanese Edition**
* **Editing:** The Japanese edition was launched in July 1982 by Chuo Koron-sha. It was published by Kadokawa Shoten and then by Hachette Fujingaho-sha before its final publication in July 2009. It was released on the 28th of every month.
