Mid Century Paden City Greenbriar Ivy Relish bowls. A set of 8. Features fresh green sprays of ivy captured on a white background ringed in 22K gold. Paden Pottery was named for a West Virginia farmer where the manufacturing plant came to life in 1914. Paden Pottery was known for doing things more out of the ordinary than most dinnerware companies of their day. Their glazing technique involved sandblasting. They introduced matte glazed, used round kilns, invested in the newest technologically advanced equipment, designed a popular square plate design, & weathered the turbulent years of the Great Depression. For 40 years, Paden City produced dinnerware of high quality, consistent craftsmanship, & artistic design. Like many American companies, they couldn’t compete with the influx of foreign dinnerware imports to America, so they closed their doors in 1953. These are in excellent condition.
