Inclay Studios Great Romances of History "The Taj Mahal Lovers" stone Plate

This limited edition plate # 11334 depicts one of the great romances of history. Handcrafted of incolay stone by the artisans of Incolay Studios of California. Second issue by Carl Romanelli was permanently closed in 1980. His signature is carved under the couple. The stone is dark red marbled with a cream raised detailed design of Shah Jahay and Mumtaz Mahal, to me, resembling a cameo carving. The Taj Mahal in the background was commissioned in 1631 by the fifth Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan (r. 1628–1658) to house the tomb of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal; it also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself. It measures 10 1/4" across X 1" D. Hang it on the wall or use on a plate stand. Hanging hole in the back. Excellent condition. No chips or cracks. Light surface scratches and a few small black scuffs on the raised design. I ship same or next business day.
