Martin Matschke was born in Silesia, 1932. Following his flight in 1945 and years of hardship, he studied under Erich Wegner in Hannover from 1952 to 1956 Later, he attended the Academy of Art. Stuttgart, as an unenrolled Student Since 1970, he has been working as a sculptor and has received considerable impetus from his encounter with the work of Constantin Brancusis.
