Two of these plates are in Excellent pre-owned condition. One of the plates has 2 chips on back. They are cream colored with raised green leaves and pink roses. The scalloped edges of the plate are hand-painted green. The black ink marking on the back of the plate means it is from the 1970-1976 timeframe, so it is made in the USA and some of the older plates sold.
In 1940, the Gladding, McBean & Co. introduced their first hand-painted embossed earthenware dinnerline Franciscan Apple, and shortly thereafter in 1941, Desert Rose. Desert Rose was based on a pattern design by contract designer Annette Honeywell. Desert Rose would become one of Gladding, McBean & Co.'s best selling dinnerware lines.
Hand Painted set of 2 9 1/2 inch dinner plates.
Hand wash to preserve finish. Made in California.
Dimensions 9 1/2" diameter.
I have more sets of this size plate listed also. There is also dessert plates and salad plates and 10 1/2 inch dinner plates.
