Handmade
Oribe ware (also known as 織部焼 Oribe-yaki) is a style of Japanese pottery that first appeared in the sixteenth century. It is a type of Japanese stoneware recognized by its freely-applied glaze as well as its dramatic visual departure from the more somber, monochrome shapes and vessels common in Raku ware of the time.
Ryuho Fujita III was born in Okayama in 1944. He is the nephew of the 2nd generation Ryuho line. After graduating from Bizen Ceramic Center in 1974 he trained at the Ryuho kiln which was succeeded to become the 2nd generation in 1978.
I found this beautiful piece at an estate sale still in its original packing, I opened it to photograph then put the wrapping back on. In pristine condition.
