Brand new in original box. However, I did try testing it & it didn't seem to work. The motor was on but the skaters didn't move. Not sure why as it has been in storage ever since I got it back in 1995. Maybe you can get it to work, but I couldn't, but I also didn't spend a lot of time trying either. Even if you can't get it to work either, it would be an awesome display piece in a Christmas Village scene. Trees will need some fluffing as they got a little crushed in the box. Was never removed from box, except for when I took it out to take pics & to test it for this listing. I like to be as accurate as possible in my description, so I wanted to test it out to be sure it worked after sitting in storage for 29 years & am glad I did, since it doesn't seem to be working
