Flow blue and white dinner-sized (10”) plate depicts Marblehead’s “Cradle of Liberty”: “Ye Olde Town House” erected in 1627.
The Town House served as town hall until 1879, where pre- revolutionary meetings were held. Eldridge Gerry (he of gerrymandering fame) and others like General John Glover debated independence there. It is still used for meetings today with a museum on its lower level.
On back: W. Adams & Co. made especially for R. N. Cook, Marblehead, Ma.
Very good condition; no chips, cracks, crazing.
