Photographies de MAGRITTE, published in Paris in 1982, is a book.

The preface states, "La transposition Photographique," or "Photographic Transposition of Mystery."

All image creation transposes the visible into a single viewpoint, and that viewpoint can be seen and examined. An image is a visible viewpoint, an inner viewpoint of the visible. This characteristic is common to both pictorial and photographic images. Therefore, the latter, like the former, has a dual purpose. One is positioned as technical in a very broad sense, and the other is positioned as artistic. "Technical" means something created with an external purpose in mind, and "artistic" means something created as thought. Therefore, René Magritte's photographs are sometimes technical and sometimes artistic. (From the introductory preface)
