Lucky Stones are desirable to collectors as the letter “L” for Love or the letter “J” for Joy, appear naturally on these lucky stones. They are the unique ear bone or otolith of the freshwater fish known as the Sheephead (Freshwater Drum). History says they were valuable and used as barter and that Great Lakes Sailors and Fisherman believe these stones guarded against harm during storms. Native Americans used them for decoration and to ward off illness.
