Purchased as a used book about 30 years ago and stored at home with a vinyl cover. It appears to be a reprint of a costume collection from the 1800s.

The following is a translation of the author's introduction:
Albert Charles Auguste Racinet was born in Paris in 1825. After being instructed by his father, he achieved success as a draftsman and a draftsman of the Salon, exhibiting regularly.

From 1847 to 1851, he worked on the prints of Paul Lacroix's "Moyen Âge et Renaissance." From 1878 to 1880, he translated the "Historical Encyclopedia of Costumes" in six volumes, and in 1869, the "Encyclopedia of Decoration" in two volumes.
