This is the second album by Marine Girls, a three-woman band featuring Tracey Thorn of Everything But The Girl, released in '83.
It climbed to number 4 on the UK indie album chart, and the B1 single reached number 21.
The members at the time were Tracey Thorn on guitar and vocals, Alice Fox on vocals, and Alice's sister, Jane Fox.
Each song is short, less than two minutes long, and the themes are trivial, such as love. And the backing music is only electric bass and acoustic guitar, which is amateurish, but that's the charm.
The lack of pretension is important. However, they are said to be the originators of neo-acoustic and guitar pop, and Kurt Cobain of Nirvana included Marine Girls' first album in his favorite 50 albums, so there is something that shines even in the simple sound and presence.
