A grand love story spanning 30 years, following the sisters Mayo and Kayo as they live their lives with unwavering determination, despite being tossed about by a cruel fate.
The story begins with the birth of the sisters, Mayo and Kayo, the protagonists.
In 1970, the Osaka Expo was held, and the Japanese archipelago was booming with the "Remodeling Boom" and the high economic growth period, where people were consumed by desires for money, fame, and power, and competed with each other.
It was an era when the most important things for humans, such as "sincerity" and "compassion," were falling out of people's hearts.
Kyoko (Maiko Kawakami), a nurse, could not forgive the betrayal of the man she loved, Toyoki (Satoshi Jinbo). She kidnapped Mayo, the baby born to Toyoki and Fukiko (Sawako Kitahara), who had married, and secretly raised her, naming her Botan (later Nanako Ohkouchi).
With overflowing love... The heartbroken Toyoki and Fukiko were blessed with a second daughter, Kayo (later Maju Ozawa), the following year, and poured their hearts into raising her to forget the nightmare.
Thus, the real sisters, Mayo and Kayo, grew up without knowing each other's existence until they became adults.
However, fate played a trick, and they were brought together under one roof.
Kayo as the young lady of a wealthy family, and Mayo as her servant!
