GEM CRAFT / CRAFT was founded by Gene Verrecchia (Coro's lead designer for over 30 years), in Providence, RI in 1945.
Originally the company produced jewelry under the name Craftsman, then Sample Art.
After 1979, all jewelry was signed "CRAFT".
In addition to making own jewelry, the company also made jewelry for Oscar de la Renta, Kenneth Jay Lane, Capri, R. Mandle, Tancer, Kramer, and Cadoro.
Gene Verrecchia actively worked until his death at age 101 on December 30, 2013.
