The singles "Bad Medicine" and "I'll Be There For You" both reached number one on the US Billboard chart, while "Born to Be My Baby" (US ), "Lay Your Hands on Me" (US ), and "Living in Sin" (US ) also made it into the Top 10. The album sold 8 million copies in the US alone, with total sales exceeding 18 million. In Japan, it reached number two on the Oricon chart but topped the annual album chart, earning the Grand Prix Album of the Year and Grand Prix Artist of the Year awards at the 3rd Japan Gold Disc Awards. "Bad Medicine" was also used as the theme song for the SANYO CD radio cassette "ZooSCENE" and the S-VHS home video format, with the band members appearing in the commercials. This album is certified 8x Platinum (US).
