Story

In the year 2199, to save Earth, which was on the verge of destruction due to the invasion by the alien Gamilas Empire, the interstellar navigation spaceship "Yamato" was built, depicting its vast journey and battles.

In 2199, Earth was being invaded by the mysterious alien nation, the Gamilas Empire. They continued to indiscriminately attack Earth with planet bombs, and the creatures on the surface were dying due to radioactive contamination. Humanity built underground cities, and as radioactive contamination progressed, it was only one year until the extinction of mankind.

Earth completed the space battleship "Yamato," modeled after the sunken Japanese Navy battleship "Yamato" that sank in the Battle of Cape Momi in the Pacific Ocean during the end of World War II, which was sleeping on the seabed off the coast of Kyushu.
With Captain Juzo Okita, and with a limited time of one year, the Space Battleship Yamato sets off on a journey of 296,000 light-years round trip, entrusted with the last hope of mankind, heading for the planet Iscandar.
