This piece is a classic example of Portuguese "Naturalist" Majolica, featuring a rich, vibrant green glaze and intricate botanical textures. The plate is cleverly designed with a central well for dipping sauces (hollandaise, melted butter, or vinaigrette) and a secondary curved well for the artichoke itself, surrounded by embossed fern and leaf motifs.
