This is a masterpiece album released in 1983 on ECM by Harald Weiss, a German percussionist who has been active as a member of Ensemble Musica Negativa, a group that performs contemporary/avant-garde music, and has released many works since 1980, mainly on the Wergo label. Weiss utilizes gongs, congas, and various unidentified percussion instruments, incorporating elements of Indonesian gamelan and kecak, to create ultra-deep experimental percussion music. Side A features the rounded tones of wooden percussion instruments as the main focus, along with bells and primitive voices, and you'll be blown away by the occasional gong sounds. Side B delves even deeper, with a deep reverberant space created by mysterious metal instruments that emit low-frequency overtones and a chorus of hard-sounding cymbals, with kecak-like voices erupting. Both sides are seriously intense. Highly recommended.
