This is a Mitchell camouflage pattern cover for the US military's late M-1 steel pot helmet.
It was made to fit the later M-1 (commonly known as M-2) helmet, which had a shallower depth, and shows wear marks from being attached to it.
The stamp remains, indicating it is a DSA-issued item from 1975.
The fabric is reversible.
