In the late 80s, SOULSIDE, a key band from Dischord Records, played a central role in the Revolution Summer movement. This band was formed by SOULSIDE frontman Bobby Sullivan after their breakup.

Their only album from '92
INNER EAR / Produced by Eli Janney
(This work is a reissue from '12, commemorating the 20th anniversary)

A song that inherits the reggae style used by Bad Brains, Scream, and others. "Anxious Hunger," a dub track where Sullivan's intense, emotional vocals explode.

"Breeze," a superb DC-style hardcore track, presents the emotion seen in SOULSIDE in a more rock-oriented way. Mark Sullivan also participates in vocals on "Vanity."

This unique, groovy HC sound was inherited by Rain Like The Sound Of Trains and SEVENS. Also, through bandmate Joshua Larue, it branched out and refined into Afro, post-rock with HIM / The Boom / THE SORTS.
