The Jazz Messengers, a band that spearheaded hard bop in the 1960s, led by Art Blakey. Blakey scouted promising young musicians one after another, honing them through nightly live performances. And, on top of that, he was vague about their pay.
Since this is based on interviews conducted after the boss, Blakey, passed away, everyone speaks their mind freely, and various stories come out without reservation. It's like a backstage pass into the lives of musicians, and it's very interesting.
I've kept it carefully, so the condition is like new. It comes with the obi (sleeve). I've accumulated a lot of related books, so I'm putting this up for sale to declutter. Recommended for hard bop fans.
This is a premium book as it's out of print. The price is set high, but I will review it periodically according to the market price. Therefore, please refrain from price negotiations.
