Tokyo Kogaku Topcor 5cm F3.5 lens with Leica L39 screw mount. Please inquire about mount conversion.

Released in 1955. This standard lens was originally sold as part of a set for the Leotax K, which was compatible with the Leica III. Its unique two-stage aperture design was considered quite eccentric at the time. Made of a lightweight aluminum alloy. While the F3.5 specification wasn't particularly high-performing for its era, it was positioned as a more affordable lens. Despite its distinctive design, it wasn't a popular lens, but its unique character has garnered attention from enthusiasts in modern times.

I've prepared some sample images taken with this lens.

A characteristic feature is the rainbow-colored ghosting that appears when strong backlighting is used.

I took it to see the night view from Ikebukuro Sunshine for some reason. I thought this bokeh "soft serve ice cream" shot would go viral on SNS on New Year's Day, but it didn't... but it's still good bokeh. Due to the lens's optical quality, light sources are rendered clearly without becoming soft. The high-speed light trails are a composite of three images using comparative brightness synthesis. It's nice that they remain clear even when layered.

It shines in snapshots, showing a shower of light with strong backlighting and a soft touch in direct light. It's small and easy to focus, making it a user-friendly lens and a great recommendation for those new to old lenses.

Optically, there is no noticeable mold or haze, but there are some minor scratches on the front and rear elements. The exterior also shows some scratches from use, but there are no noticeable dents, and it's still shiny and beautiful. The operation is smooth.

Condition: Clear images in test shots! Operation confirmed.
Appearance: No noticeable dents, some scratches from use.
Optics: No mold or haze, scratches on front and rear elements.
Operation: Tested with α7.
Accessories: Front and rear caps.

Stored in a dehumidified cabinet.
