Northern Haze is a psychedelic/hard rock band from Igloolik, Nunavut, Canada. They are widely known as the first band to record a rock album in Inuktitut, an indigenous language. They have been active since their formation in 1984.
Origin: Formed in 1984 in Igloolik, an Arctic community, by James Ungalaq, Naisana Qamaniq, John Inooya, Kolitalik Inukshuk, and Elijah Kunuk.
Musical Style: Known for their riff-heavy psychedelic sound, influenced by bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, while also incorporating elements of traditional Inuit folk music. All lyrics are in Inuktitut.
