Since its founding in 1897, Filson has developed iconic materials, including 'TIN CLOTH'.
Tin Cloth is waxed (oiled) cotton canvas developed over a century ago. It's a traditional textile that gained immense popularity in the American Pacific Northwest as the perfect fabric for workwear, protecting hunters and loggers working in thorny plants and rain-soaked forests.
This canvas is tightly woven and highly durable, offering excellent puncture resistance, tear resistance, and abrasion resistance. Furthermore, a special, proprietary wax treatment makes it feel less sticky and almost odorless, so you might not even realize it's waxed cotton at first touch. Yet, it effectively repels rain, snow, and mud.
Another important material that makes up the bag is "Filson Bridle Leather." This material feels luxurious the moment you hold it, and its toughness is comparable to that of horse tack. It's a must-have texture for leather enthusiasts.
The leather comes from Wickett & Craig, one of the few tanneries that uses large pit vats for traditional, time-consuming vegetable tanning. The company was founded in 1867, making it a long-established tannery with a history of over a century.
The bag is equipped with convenient quick-access pockets on the front and both sides.
Nylon is used for the lining.
