This is a two-album set featuring the Japanese original pressings of The Who's "I'm A Boy" (released in 1967) and "Exciting The Who" (released in 1968).
These Japanese editions were reissued in the 2000s due to the cool jacket designs, but the original pressings are rare Japanese-exclusive compilations, highly sought after by Who collectors worldwide.
Although The Who is now a household name for British rock fans, they were not as well-known in Japan at the time as The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.
I'm A Boy SLPM-1354
The photo of the band without Pete is famous as the "Happy Jack" single, but it has even more impact on the album cover.
The jacket is vinyl-coated. There are some creases on the jacket, but no splits.
The record has scratches on both sides, and the needle skips on track A5.
There is some crackle noise, but it's not too bad except for the skips. A lyric sheet is included.
Exciting The Who SLPM-1385
The psychedelic atmosphere perfectly captures the era with its amazing design. This album features all four members prominently with the Union Jack in the background.
The jacket is vinyl-coated on both sides, but the fold-over on the upper right corner of the back cover is peeling.
The record has few visible scratches, but it has a significant warp, and the tracking is unstable on both sides up to the middle of track 3, causing skips. It's a shame because the noise is minimal. Also, unlike the reissues, this is a pseudo-stereo pressing. A lyric sheet is included.
Thank you for looking.
