This is a "B-9" flight jacket for cold weather, adopted by the US Army Air Force in the 1940s during World War II.
It was only manufactured for about a year, making it a very valuable jacket.
The B-9, considered the root of modern down jackets, appeared as a successor to the B-7, which used mouton. To address leather shortages, it adopted a cotton shell and down padding, making it a historical model that represents a turning point in military wear.
What's noteworthy is its substantial material and functional beauty. The thick cotton shell has a wonderful worn look and fading from age, exuding the authentic aura unique to vintage items. The inside of the hood is lined with boa, providing excellent neck warmth. When the chin strap is fastened, it completely shuts out the cold wind, making it a reliable design.
