About the Artist: According to an AP News article from 1996 Philip Kraczkowski was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts in 1916 and lived in his childhood home until his passing in 1996. According to the article, Kraczkowski was a reclusive sculptor well known for one of the earliest designs for G.I. Joe in the 1960s, as well as creating a life-size bust of FBI director J. Edgar Hoover and a bust of General Curtis LeMay. He started his career carving western figures that were used as models for western magazines.
