Vintage Wentworth Polished Pewter Fox Head Stirrup Cup - England. A.R. Wentworth, founded in 1949, Sheffield, UK is known for quality pewter pieces like this fox head stirrup cup. The craftsmanship is notable in this fox head piece with a beaded lower rim. The small drinking vessel was offered to the mounted hunter prior to the departure of the hunt - the hunters' feet were 'in the stirrups.'. Designed for a comfortable hold, there is no base to set the cup down and therefore the liquid would be drank quickly. Holds 3 oz. A wonderful vintage decor piece for bar, bar cart, bourbon lover, bartender or equestrian.
An estate find in fair vintage condition with minor scattered surface scratches; no dings. Please view all pictures for condition. Stamped inside is the ABP stamp, seahorse and 'W' dating the piece after 1980. Measurements approx. - 2 5/8" H
