"Seated Mercury" or "Commerce" type, were issued by the French Chambers of Commerce in the early 1920s as a replacement for emergency paper money.
Design: The reverse of each coin features Mercury, the Roman god of trade, seated on a bale and holding a caduceus, with the inscription "COMMERCE INDUSTRIE".
