When he fled to England in 1941 at the outbreak of WWII, the monarchy collapsed. It was officially abolished in 1945 and replaced with a federation of six republics. Reverse depicts a crowned double eagle with a shield.
Issued over 85 years ago, these 75% silver coins circulated as Hitler’s troops invaded Yugoslavia. Struck only in 1938, they feature an edge inscription that translates to god save yugoslavia.
