1970s Caro Nan Woven Basket Purse Hand-Painted 'Welcome Joy' Quilt Insert Signed

Beautiful vintage collectible hand-crafted woven basket box purse by Caro-Nan with hand-painted street scenes on each side with fruit and Welcome Joy on the top of the lid. Hand-painted houses/buildings add additional charm to this amazing shiny, bright, and colorful collectible is a wonderful example of their folk-art style and boutique-specific designs. Very pretty floral red quilted fabric interior. Signed by Caro Nan and presented to Carpe Thaggers. This basket is a unique and stylish accessory, whether used as a handbag or a lunch basket. Caro-Nan baskets were created in the 1960/70s by Carolyn McDaniel and Nancy Steele out of Jacksonville, Miss. One feature of Caro-Nans is the village painted on the sides. A real Caro Nan handbag basket has the "by Caro Nan" signature. Measures 9" T x 10" L x 6" W. Very good to excellent condition. Small splits (see photo) and felt fold on bottom. These could be glued. The inside is very clean, no odor. Weight 1 lb. 3 oz.
